Les Vieux Chais Gardens There are four separate areas to the gardens, three of which are available to guests.  Riverside Gardens  Riverside Gardens - This lawned area stretches down to the riverside and is interspersed  with magnificent plane trees which reach a height of some 45 metres. A new driveway  has been laid leading to the private walled garden for la Grande Maison in the East  Wing. There are two working moorings on the riverbank so if you are arriving by boat you  can tie up with ease. Courtyard Gardens  The main courtyard is approximately 1,500m2 (16,100 sq. ft.). In addition to a number  of existing mature shrubs and trees including yew and hazelnut, some fruit trees,  shrubs, plants and bulbs have been planted mainly in the raised beds and surrounding  area.  The raised beds are constructed with old railway sleepers through which are 4 archways  constructed for access to the dining, bbq and seating areas set on two newly paved  patios. The central gravelled walk/drive is lined with almost 80 lavender and leads up to  a small parterre consisting mainly of roses and buxus.  The dawn chorus one May morning in 2010...
